MicroNetworking Tips that work

As an Entrepreneur you should always be networking. Networking can bring leads like you would not believe. I am a true witness and believer of this. During my most recent successful networking endeavor. I took a Quick books class at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. As a student of the class I was able to network with other students who attended, during the class breaks, we introduced ourselves, exchanged business cards and explained to one another about exactly what our business was about. I was fortunate to network with the instructor of the course. After about 3 weeks of the Quickbooks session my company received a phone call from the instructor to participant in an Annual event which introduced us to a new network of professionals to build relationships along with lots of great leads.

Some tips to remember when you are networking:

1. Always have your business cards.
2. Introduce yourself with a huge energetic smile :).
3. Maintain good posture and interest when asking "what do you do?" (people love this question it gives then a chance to talk about themselves.)
4. Don't forget to ask for a business card. (they will ask for yours in return)
5. Make sure you followup within a day or two with a Nice to Meet You email.

Those are a few tips for networking, if you are a newbie at this don't worry you'll get better and build confidence as you go along, make sure you stick with it. Get out to as many events as possible, this gives you practice and let's others know that you are serious about your business.

Do you have any tips or tricks you use for successful networking that you would like to add? Please share them on this post. It's great to learn from others as well.
